ATI Straton X is the MacBook Air of Aquarium LED lighting

ATI Aquaristik is now shipping the much-anticipated Straton X aquarium light.

Like the Straton Pro and Straton Flex, the new Straton X is a flat, passively cooled panel light made from Aluminium, for strength, lightness, and saltwater durability. But also for efficient heat dissipation, and being fanless, Straton X is completely silent, even on full power.

The 364 x 364 mm (14.3” x 14.3”) 150-watt panel is populated with 100 LEDs, each recessed into the panel, and each with its own reflector, which ATI says uses anti-glare, soft shadow technology to produce natural shimmer and wide spread while also producing blinding par of up to 1800 at 8” below it.

And at only 9mm thick, Straton X is thinner than a MacBook Air.

The 100 diodes are made up of seven different spectrums – 405nm UV, 420nm Violet, 450nm Royal Blue,470nm Blue, Cyan White, White, and 625nm, with individual channels being capable of being overdriven if other channels are operated below 100%, shifting all the power to the channels required by the user.

The ATI Reef Pilot App runs on iOS and Android and enables Easy programing of individual light gradients and spectra, Smooth transitions and precise intensity control, template adoption, Individual or group control of all lights electricity consumption in real time and live PAR values at different water depths.

Mounting bracket

At only 2.5 kg, Straton X can be fitted to the tank using a mounting bracket (not supplied), further enticing potential purchasers who have previously been put off by the thought of ceiling hanging lights, but the best thing is the price at £799.99, plus £99.99 for the mounting bracket, putting it right up against the all conquering EcoTech Radion G6 XR30, at £874.99 plus £110.99 for the mounting bracket.

ATI certainly aren’t new to the LED or high-end aquarium lighting market. But since the belated launch of the Straton Pro, their looks, features and pricing have catapulted them right to the front of the pack, and ATI Straton is now the go-to for reefers seeking sexy looks, high performance, and silence.

It’s a thing of beauty.
