Revolutionary Features of Aquaforest’s All-in Skim Protein Skimmer

All-in Skim is a new protein skimmer from Aquaforest, the likes of which we have never seen before. It’s a DC pump-powered, venturi-driven skimmer, but with a whole host of added features that will benefit the reef aquarium and the owner.

The DC pump can be controlled from 0-100% output via a wired controller, but it can also be plugged into a 1-10v port on a third-party controller. It can shut off via a float switch in the collection cup or be controlled via float switches and the energy bar on an Apex. What’s more, the pump can be placed inside the skimmer body in compact sumps or outside, leaving more room for the next feature.

All-in Skim features a built-in media chamber under the bubble diffuser where bio media like Life Bio Fil can be placed, and optimally positioned to get lots of water flow, and old bio films removed where they can be skimmed off above. There’s also a container on top of the collection cup where carbon filters out bad smells, which would otherwise leach into your living room. Perfect for Ozone removal, too…

All-in Skim also features not one but two integrated CO2 scrubbers, which remove CO2 from the air that the skimmer draws in, helping to keep pH higher in the system. The venturi design is patented; it can include up to 10 CO2 scrubbers in parallel, and they can even be used in recirculation mode when the moist exported air is recycled and used again, keeping CO2 diffusion super low.

Aquaforest plans to launch All-in Skim in around 2 months (June 2025) for their distributors. There will be two sizes to start, 150mm, 200mm and then 250mm later this year.

What we think

All-in Skim has many useful features that convert it into a biological, chemical, air and CO2 filter, and way more than just an average protein skimmer. Aquaforest have always made protein skimmers, but these add-on features make this one very worthy of any discerning reefer’s consideration.
