New grain size for Aquaforest AF Bio Sand

Aquaforest continues its unique take on live sand with a second AF Bio Sand product. The new 1-2mm grain size is brought to life in the same unique way – by pouring saltwater into the bag along with bottled bacteria and food and leaving it overnight to colonise before placing it in the tank. The sand is calcium carbonate-based and ICP tested for purity. The original AF Bio Sand has a grain size of 0.5-1.5mm, so its partner product has been more refined and graded to a larger 1-2mm. This may help it stay put in higher-flow aquariums.

  • This is a great update! I have been generally very happy with the AF BioSand used to start my 1K L display last spring yet there is always a bit of cloud and dust that just never rinsed/ rinses from the grains. The system certainly churns the ammonia rapidly. Looking forward to addressing some bare patches with the new product.
